#19- Alcatraz prison, San Francisco, California
We've been around the world, we've gone to school and now we're going to prison. Our inmates will be some of the most infamous criminals the world has ever known. Al Capone, "Machine Gun" Kelly, and Robert Franklin Stroud- The Birdman of Alcatraz. I just hope I don't get thrown in solitary confinement while we're there. On second thought, solitary doesn't sound so bad...
Alcatraz was used as a maximum security prison from 1934 to 1963. The main building was built in 1910-12 to be used as a US army military prison. Given it's high security reputation and the cold waters and strong currents of the San Francisco bay, the prison operators declared Alcatraz inescapable and America's strongest prison. During the prison's 29 years, a total of 36 prisoners made 14 escape attempts. None of them made it to freedom. Good, good...The last thing we need is a bunch of Alcatraz escapees running amok...
This is creepy on so many levels. It's a PRISON! Probably not an inmates idea of a good time. From what I've gathered, not nice things happen to you. But to be fair, the guys who stayed there did not nice things, so it's all good. Besides that, the prison wardrobe is not the fashion statement I want to make. So if you need a reason to try and NOT get sent to Alcatraz, consider how you'd look in prison-issues....It ain't pretty, is it?
The most common reports include screams from the dungeons and ghostly voices coming from the hospital ward. C-block is haunted by the spirit of Abie Maldowitz, who was murdered in the laundry room. B-block is similarly haunted by the sounds of clanging chains, crying and unexplained footsteps. D-block was reserved for the very worst offenders, with cell number 14 D claiming to be the most haunted cell of all. It is icy cold, even in the summer. Several inmates died in this cell and their spirits are still felt. One inmate died during military captivity. After he was locked in his cell, he said he saw red glowing eyes in the dark and screamed for hours. He was found dead the following morning. The sounds of a banjo being played come from the shower room, where Capone used to practice.
See? This is why prison is bad! Avoid getting yourself thrown in one if at all possible. As for me, I think I've enjoyed my stay long enough and I'm going to break out. I have a fool proof plan involving a nail file, a spoon, and whiskey to get the guards all liquored up. Wish me luck!

These fine fellows will be happy to share your cell! Good thing I've escaped and safely made my way to freedom.....Don't worry, I'm sure they're harmless....and I could swear the 3rd guy in is Martin Sheen......who knew he was such a hardened criminal?
